2.16.19 – Thank you for your interest in learning more about who I am and some of what’s important to me. Growing up I wanted to be an artist (or a veterinarian), and even though I enjoyed drawing and painting, it wasn’t meant to be a career. I had plans to ‘get out of here,’ though as graduation approached and I started looking at schools, Alexandria Technical College was the clear choice for my continued education.
Graduating the Communication Art & Design program launched me into a career in graphic design, a different kind of art. I worked for a couple of local print media outlets, Brad & I got married in 2003 and Versatile Designs was established in 2004. My husband and I had the hopes that it would allow me to work from home and be a stay at home mom if and when the time came.
I do not regret for one second squeezing in phone calls during nap time or the late nights that allowed me to be home with our two boys. They’ve grown up so quickly, Kyle now a middle schooler and Cody nearing the end of elementary. We live on an active farm, with land and livestock, so I help when I can and try to keep my kids engaged in all things farming.
My hobbies include gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and freezing and canning so we can enjoy the fruits of our labor year ’round. These days I work during the day now like a normal person — well, mostly. Here I am spending my long weekend with kids at home, checking on baby piglets and revamping my website, YET AGAIN! I keep saying I’m so glad I’m not in the business of web design anymore, but I have to say, I’ve kind of enjoyed giving myself a facelift.
I’ll leave you with a few photos that may leave you wishing for spring – my favorite season.
